The TOLC series is Samtec’s FOURRAY™ quad-row high-density terminal strip, a 1.27mm (0.050″) pitch surface-mount male connector. The staggered quad-row layout has a nominal row pitch of 1.27mm, with each row offset by 0.635mm, resulting in an effective surface-mount terminal pitch of 0.635mm. Up to 50 positions per row, with a maximum of 200 positions across four rows. Mated with the SOLC series female socket to form a high-density board-to-board interconnect system.
Design Features
The staggered quad-row layout is the defining characteristic of the TOLC series. Pins in each column are arranged in a Z-pattern, with an effective pitch of 0.635mm between adjacent rows and 1.27mm within the same row. In high-frequency (>50MHz) digital bus systems, the staggered layout reduces crosstalk between adjacent signal lines. Insulator: black LCP (UL 94 V-0). Contacts: phosphor bronze, Tiger Eye™ contact system. Four-wall shrouded housing, surface-mount solder termination. Optional -LC locking clip for increased retention; -K pick-and-place pad for automated SMT assembly.
Part Numbering
Example: TOLC-110-12-L-Q-LC-K. “TOLC” = FOURRAY™ quad-row SMT male terminal strip; “110” — the last two digits “10” indicate 10 positions per row, 40 positions total across four rows (standard positions per row: 05/10/15/20/25/30/35/40/45/50); “12” = stacking height/style code, corresponding to approximately 7.24mm; “L” = 10µin gold plating (10µin gold on contact area, flash gold on tail), “F” = flash gold (flash gold on both contacts and tail), “S” = selective plating (30µin gold / 50µin nickel on contacts, 3µin gold / 50µin nickel on tail); “Q” = quad row; “-LC” = locking clip; “-K” = pick-and-place pad.

Insulator: black LCP (UL 94 V-0). Contacts: phosphor bronze. Plating options: 3µin, 10µin, or 30µin gold. TOLC/SOLC mated system at 6.35mm stacking height: single-ended 7 GHz / 14 Gbps, differential 6.5 GHz / 13 Gbps. Stacking height options: 6.35mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, etc.
Mating
TOLC male headers mate with SOLC female sockets. Position count must match: TOLC-110 with SOLC-110, TOLC-150 with SOLC-150. Stacking height, mounting orientation, and retention options must correspond between male and female. WORLDPO (沃德披欧) offers pin-compatible replacement products for the full TOLC/SOLC series, enabling direct substitution.
Selection Guide
- Position count: The last two digits of the three-digit number indicate positions per row; total positions = positions per row × 4. The TOLC series covers 20 to 200 positions.
- Stacking height: Select the lead style code based on board spacing. Standard options: 6.35mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm.
- Plating: L (10µin gold) — general industrial, cost-effective; F (flash gold) — economy option; S (30µin gold / 50µin nickel) — higher corrosion resistance and mating durability for demanding environments.
- Retention options: -LC locking clip (vibration environments), -K pick-and-place pad (automated production).
Design Considerations
- Polarization: With many pins at 1.27mm pitch, reverse insertion can cause power shorts. Use sockets with keyed corners and headers with polarization bumps; mark Pin 1 clearly on PCB silkscreen.
- PCB layout: Follow Samtec reference land patterns strictly. For high-speed signals, assign one ground pin per 2–4 signal pins to optimize return paths.
- Soldering: SMT coplanarity requirements are strict. Reflow profile must match LCP temperature tolerance.
- Mating cycles: Models with -LC locking clip provide higher retention force, suitable for frequent mating or vibration environments.
- Mechanical support: Board spacers adjacent to the connector are recommended for improved mechanical stability.
